Maori Deep Tissue Bodywork

Maori Deep Tissue Body Work

This is a transformative bodywork practice derived from traditional Māori martial arts to shift physical, mental, and emotional tension, clear cellular memory, and release long-held or ancestral pain.

This can quite simply be slow, deep, thorough bodywork — like a really good sports or deep tissue massage, but with the added benefit of Māori haemata (pressure points) and traditional healing practices to support the body, mind, and emotions on all levels. It can also facilitate deep physical, emotional and energetic clearing.

Some techniques are gentle and subtle whilst providing a deep release and others apply strong direct pressure to effectively shift long held tension and pain.

What This Looks Like in Practice

Slow, deep, thorough bodywork — like a really good sports or deep tissue massage, but with the added benefit of meridian/organ system and Māori haemata (pressure point) wisdom to support the body, mind, and emotions on all levels.

In each session you may experience:

  • Direct, effective bodywork using hands, feet, elbows, forearms, stones, and traditional Māori raakau sticks — always meeting you where you are for grounding and release.

  • Pressure point work to improve lymphatic flow, boost microcirculation, encourage optimal spinal alignment and balance cross-body relationships.

  • Transformative bodywork derived from traditional Māori martial arts to shift physical, mental, and emotional tension, clear cellular memory, and release long-held or ancestral pain.

  • Sensitive womb and belly work to help clear and stabilise emotional centres.

  • A genuine sense of presence and safety — sometimes we need a good laugh, sometimes a good cry, sometimes just to let go and drop into a deeply held space. It’s all welcome here.

This work is an excellent complement to movement practices such as yoga or martial arts, and to psychotherapeutic work — when our bodies are comfortable and moving freely, our minds and emotions can be too.
