Floating with Eczema, Vaginal Dryness and Dry Skin Conditions

A gentle, honest guide to feeling comfortable in the float tanks

Floatation therapy at Float Spa uses a warm solution of water saturated with a very high concentration of Epsom salts. This creates the incredible weightless experience that supports your body, soothes the nervous system and helps calm the mind. You can read more about floatation therapy

For many people with eczema, dry skin concerns or vaginal dryness, floating can actually feel wonderfully soothing. The Epsom salts act like a natural, gentle exfoliator and can help soften dry patches, calm irritated areas and relieve general discomfort. However, it is also common to feel a mild throbbing or tingling sensation at the start of your session. This is simply your body responding to the high salt concentration and often settles within a few minutes.

Here is what you need to know to make your float as comfortable as possible.

Eczema and Dry Skin

Many clients with eczema or very dry skin find floating beneficial. The saltwater solution softens the outer layers of the skin and may help reduce symptoms. If you have any open or cracked areas, you may feel a slight sting at first, but this usually fades quickly. If you are worried or have particularly sensitive patches, let the team know before your session. We can offer PawPaw as a barrier cream to protect any areas that need shielding.

Vaginal Dryness or Sensitivity

If you experience vaginal dryness, you may be more sensitive to the salt solution. To stay fully comfortable, we recommend wearing swim bottoms during your float. Combined with a small amount of barrier cream, this greatly reduces any discomfort or throbbing sensations so you can settle in and enjoy the full experience.

Always Speak to the Team

Our team is here to help you float with confidence and comfort. If you know you have a dry skin condition or any sensitivity, please tell us before your session. We can provide PawPaw barrier cream, talk through any concerns and make sure you feel properly supported.

Floating should feel calming, restorative and peaceful. A few small adjustments can make all the difference, and we are always here to help you enjoy every moment.
