Vinyasa Flow yoga is one of the most popular and commonly practiced yoga disciplines today. Vinyasa means ‘breath-synchronised movement’ and this form of yoga involves moving between postures and breathing in certain ways while you do so. This form of yoga is popular because people find it invigorating and relaxing all at once because the mind calms while the body exerts so it has the double benefit of exercise and meditation.
We created this online beginners’ yoga course to welcome the beginner yogi to the flowing practice as it can be quite different to more static forms of yoga and some people are worried that a class in the studio amongst experienced yogis may leave them behind. This six session course, which you can complete at your own pace, allows you to establish a strong Vinyasa Flow yoga foundation and to build the confidence you need to take part in Vinyasa Flow classes feeling comfortable and like you know what to expect.
The course works by first touching upon yoga history and yoga philosophy to help you understand why you are being asked to do the things your instructor asks you to do. She then comprehensively takes you through the key poses and proper alignment of the poses so you can have good form when you start to practice the flow. You will then learn how to link breath with motion before flowing through the sun salutations to allow you to build up to a full Vinyasa Flow yoga practice.
Once you have established the basics of Vinyasa Flow yoga, you will begin to receive the benefits of a stronger, more flexible body with better balance and posture as well as a more relaxed mind which can more easily connect with the body through the breath. Because you are totally concentrating on your body and how your breath works with your movements while practicing this form of yoga, it works as a kind of moving meditation and mindfulness session so you don’t just receive the benefits of exercise, you get to tackle stress and improve your concentration through meditation too.
As the ultimate ‘healthy body and healthy mind’ workout, Vinyasa Flow yoga is the perfect choice for busy people who want a vigorous session where they can feel their body working but also want to enhance their mental wellbeing and boost overall vitality. This course provides an excellent step by step introduction to this almost dance-like style of yoga which some people may find a little daunting to just jump into. You’ll quickly see that it isn’t really daunting at all with your instructor providing you with lots of options to make the movements easier or more challenging so you can pick the level which is right for you and your individual needs.
