Movement Medicine and the Meridians: A Yoga Workshop
With Amanda Evans & Andy Butterfield
Date: Sunday 15th April – 2:30pm – 5:30pm
‘I want to do with you what Spring does with the cherry trees’ Pablo Neruda
In this special workshop, Andy and Ama weave together yoga and movement with Chinese medicine, shiatsu stretches and massage to help you feel the energy of Spring and its promise of potential, alive within you.
Spring is the season of Liver and Gall Bladder, which drive creativity, planning, decision making and execution. When these energies are out of balance, we can have a tendency to procrastinate or be control freaks or be short tempered, irritable and angry. We will work with specific practices that will release us from these tendencies and allow creative and constructive behaviours to emerge.
Deepening contact with ourselves and other group participants in a safe and playful environment, we will explore both personal and shared space. The dynamic interplay of both tangible and non-tangible energies through Amasu’s ‘Contact Yoga’ and Movement Medicine will help us sequence a flow that can be done alone or with another. Respectful touch to stretch meridians and activate (acu)pressure points and supporting this through the exploration of sharing weight and transference with each other. Meridians work in pairs and so too will we in this unique workshop.
