Hatha Yoga Classes in Hove
This class at The Float Spa in Hove is appropriate for beginners and students with limitations, as well as experienced practitioners who enjoy a mindful and relaxing practice.
Hatha Yoga refers to a set of physical exercises known as asanas or postures, and sequences of asanas designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. The postures are also designed to open the many channels of the body, especially the main channel (the spine) so that energy can flow freely.
Hatha is also translated as ha meaning “sun” and tha meaning “moon.” This refers to the balance of masculine aspects (active, hot, sun) and feminine aspects (receptive, cool, moon) within all of us. Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites. In our physical bodies we develop a balance of strength and flexibility. We also learn to balance our effort and surrender in each pose.
Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. It asks us to bring our attention to our breath, which helps us to still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.
You will deepen your level of yoga practice by placing emphasis on being in the present moment. This is not a vigorous, fast moving yoga class; rather a peaceful but intense journey into gradually opening up the joints, along with the mind. Practice some deep breath work accompanied with mixed level asanas. Beginner and intermediate students are welcome, as poses will be modified to meet the levels of each individual student.
We will utilise props such as belts, blocks, blankets and chairs for support, get grounded and melt tension (Students will need to get up and down from the floor a few times during the class).
This will be a very personal practice and individual yoga journey. Everyone has their reason; some people use it as a form of exercise, for some it is a time of introspection and meditation and others as a form of social enrichment. This is a mindful and uplifting practice that improves flexibility and concentration, detoxifies the vital organs and allows you to experience a state of deep relaxation.
