Hatha Yoga Classes in Hove
This class at The Float Spa in Hove is appropriate for beginners and students with limitations as well as experienced practitioners who enjoy a mindful and relaxing practice.
Hatha Yoga refers to a set of physical exercises known as asanas or postures and sequences of asanas designed to align your skin, muscles and bones. The postures are also designed to open the many channels of the body, especially the main channel (the spine) so energy can flow freely.
Hatha is also translated as ‘ha’ meaning “sun” and ‘tha’ meaning “moon.” This refers to the balance of masculine aspects (active, hot, sun) and feminine aspects (receptive, cool, moon) within all of us. Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites. In our physical bodies, we develop a balance of strength and flexibility. We also learn to balance our effort and surrender in each pose.
Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. It asks us to bring our attention to our breath, which helps us to still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.
You will deepen your level of yoga practice by placing emphasis on being in the present moment. This is not a vigorous, fast moving yoga class, rather a peaceful but intense journey into gradually opening up the joints along with the mind. Practice some deep breath work accompanied with mixed level asanas. Beginner and intermediate students are welcome as poses will be modified to meet the levels of each individual student.
We will utilise props such as belts, blocks, blankets and chairs for support, get grounded and melt tension (students will need to get up and down from the floor a few times during the class).
This will be a very personal practice and individual yoga journey. Everyone has their reason; some people use it as a form of exercise, for some it is a time of introspection and meditation and others as a form of social enrichment. No matter what gets you on the mat, remember it is an uplifting practice that promotes physical health and mental wellbeing. Book a Hatha Yoga Class today.
This class is suitable for all levels of experience.
Gentle Hatha Yoga
Gentle Hatha Yoga is a slow paced and relaxing form of Hatha yoga class filled with deep stretching and deep breath work. This is a mindful and uplifting practice that improves flexibility and concentration, detoxifies the vital organs and allows you to experience a state of deep relaxation. A variety of spiritual, meditative, physical and energetic practices are included.
This class at The Float Spa in Hove is appropriate for anyone of any level who enjoys a mindful and relaxing practice.
Hatha Flow and Restore Yoga
Starting off with a soft and simple yoga flow to gently awaken the body, liberate the breath, release tension and unravel and winding down to restorative poses for profound rest and relaxation, this class provides a lovely yogic-tonic to add to your ‘float experience’.
The movement in this class is mindful, pleasant and flows slowly enough to allow time for poses to unfold gracefully and peacefully whilst, at the same time, offering mild challenges. The restorative yoga poses are passive (mostly lying down) and supported by bolsters, bricks, belts and blankets for a snuggly end to the session.
Guided meditation, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques such as Yoga Nidra are also woven into these classes from time to time. They are suitable for all ability levels including complete beginners.
Dynamic Hatha Flow Yoga
This dynamic Hatha flow yoga class involves more vigorous movement than the other Hatha classes and is designed to work up a sweat by moving with the breath to detoxify the body and centre the mind.
We move through dynamic sequences to condition the core and pause to deepen into the poses to let go of deeply held tension and bring the heart rate back to normal.
Then, we move into demystifying fear-inducing poses such as arm balances and inversions to break it down and take them step by step to build a confident practice in a supported and open minded environment.
This class will enable you to let go after a stressful day, get back into your body and bring you to a more peaceful and centred place by the end. It’s a great way to start the week.
As the instructor will offer easier or more difficult variations for the poses and movements, this class is suitable for all experience levels.
